Consistency in a persons emotions, thoughts, and behaviours across time and different situations . Presentation of an ambiguous stimulus (something unclear), have the person tell a story about it : what they tell, tells you a bit about who they are/personality. Not a lot of validity in these tests people influenced by the moment, mood, events in life, etc . Some personality tests exist that are known to be relatively reliable and valid . A personality test is objective if it has been standardized . Ex: many people have written the test and responses given by different types of people are known . Such tests are valuable for measuring various personality traits (ex: shyness, sociability, riskfulness, etc) . Are certain traits particularly central to who a person is? . Measured peoples answers to questionnaires, observed their behaviours, and obtained family/friends descriptions to their past behaviours .
