Pull of tape parallel to skin, if dressing sicks on moist-dry dressing do not moisten it. Observe amount, color, odour of drainage along with wound appearance. If ordered, cleanse/irrigate: irrigate unil drainage clear. Dry dressing: apply sterile dry dressing with cover on top. Tape/use montgomery ies (prevents frequent changing of tape which can cause damage to skin) Assess size, depth and shape of wound irst. Many materials can be used for packing such as alginates, non woven gauze, etc. If non woven gauze used, saturate with ordered soluion, wring out and unfold to pack wound. Keeping wound moist and surrounding skin dry prevents maceraion. If tunneling is not illed it can ill up with wound debris and cause and abscess. Packing too ightly will decrease the blood low. Hold syringe ip 2. 5 cm from upper end of wound and lush with coninuous pressure. Cleanse with shower head: 30 cm away from wound for 5-10 mins on gentle low.
