The biggest fear for all qualitative researchers is that they will not find anything with their data. Thus, it is important to trust the process and to have faith that there are themes in your data. Coding data the process is open ended and creative with high points of excitement that accompany unexpected insights. They further engage in reflexivity as they interpret their data recognizing how their own experiences and status may impact the way participants interact with them. Unlike quantitative that begins only after all the data has been collected, analysis for qualitative goes on through the life of its study. Do not narrow down what you are looking for and do not limit to what just seems relevant. Do not decide on your codes in advance as it may loose richness or interpretation but your background experience will shape the type of information you find which is natural.
