Educational psychology: the study of development, learning and motivation that takes place in and out of schools. Dramatically diverse: 32% of the population will be members of the visible minority groups, diversity is most concentrated in larger cities, children come from a large range of religious communities, approx. Confidence in every aspect: teachers sense of efficacy. Defined as a teachers belief that they can reach even difficult students to help them learn. This confident belief appears to predict student achievement. Teachers with a high sense of efficacy work harder and persist longer when students are difficult to teach. The teachers believe in themselves and their students. Is higher when teachers and admin have high expectations of students and teachers receive help from principals. Do teachers make a difference: teacher-student relationships. Quality of teacher-student relationships predicted a number of academic and behavioural outcomes: teacher preparation and quality.
