Psyc 3350 chapter 11: interpersonal attraction and close relationships. Around the world, physical attractiveness is a more significant factor in interpersonal attraction for women than for men: skin that looks free of blemishes, blotches, sores, and rashes is viewed. Complexion is a cultural universal as more attractive than skin that doesn"t: according to evolutionary reasoning, people should be especially attracted to healthy mates who would likely produce healthy offspring. Study of the faces" culture of origin: found that the averaged eurasian face and the averaged biracial face were the most attractive of all, particularly as judged by members of the opposite sex encountered in their lives. Multiracial represent the best average of all the faces the participants have. Doesn"t seem to be true that people are more attracted to those of average weight, average height, with average-size muscles, breasts, hips, etc: those that are most attractive are often those that depart considerably from the average.
