Need satisfaction: necessary for health and well-being; the attainment of physical health, agency, and autonomy; the satisfaction of all physical, cultural, psychosocial, economic, and spiritual needs. The satisfaction of three basic needs physical health, autonomy of agency, and critical autonomy are necessary to achieve the avoidance of serious harm as a universal goal in all cultures. Self-determination theory suggested three basic needs: competence, relatedness, autonomy.
