Chapter 2 personality assessment, measurement and research design. Self-report is the most common method for measuring personality. The questionnaire is the most commonly used self-report assessment procedure. It is used because individuals have access to a wealth of information about themselves that is inaccessible to anyone else. It can also be problematic for many reasons one people may lack self-knowledge. Unstructured- an open-ended form of s-data such as tell me about the parties you like most . Psychologists must devise a way to score or interpret the participant"s open-ended responses. Structured- a closed form of s-data i like loud and crowed parties answers true or false. Adjective check list (acl)-is when individuals merely place a check beside adjective that they feel accurately describe them. Likert rating scale- it is simply a way for someone with numbers the degree to which a particular trait describes trait describes them. California psychological inventory (cpi)- is a self-reporting questionnaires in the form of statements.
