Moion helps us understand events in our environment: it provide informaion about what is going on and where we are moving, akinetopsia. Makes it diicult to pour drinks, dangerous to cross roads. The ability of moion to atract atenion: occurs not only when you are looking for something but while you are paying atenion to something else, used by animals (freezing) to avoid being seen. Moion provides informaion about objects: moion perceptual organizes all elements of an object, so they create a igure separate from the background. Concept of camoulage in animals, aren"t seen when sill, but are when moving: adds informaion about objects as they move and diferent perspecives are revealed. When do we perceive moion: real moion. Actual moion of an object: illusory movement. Images in slightly diferent locaions lash of and on. Basis for moion on tv and moving signs. When moion of one object causes a nearby staionary object appear to move.
