What are some funcions of colour vision: colour signals help us idenify and classify things, colour helps facilitate perceptual organizaion. It helps us tell one object from another and to pick out objects within scenes. An ability that is crucial for the survival of many species. Picking out fruits from the leaves of the trees is hard without colour vision: helps us to recognize an idenify objects we can see easily. We recognize appropriately coloured objects more quickly and accurately than. We can also add white to colours to make them less saturated. Ex. pink is a desaturated red: percepion of colour is associated with the physical property of wavelength. Bands of wavelength within this range are associated with certain colours: relectance and transmission. Colour of objects are determined by the wavelengths of light from the object into our eyes. Chromaic colours (hues) such as blue, green, and red, occur when some wavelength are relected more than others.
