Variables: elements that you expect to change or vary, that can have several different values. Constant: in contrast to a variable, a factor that does not change and remains consistent. Conceptual de nition: de nes variables and constants in theoretical terms. Operational de nition: determining how you will use these variables in a study. Experimental design: experimenter controls and manipulates the independent variable, allowing cause and effect relationships to form between the independent and dependant variables.
