PSYC 2310 Chapter Notes - Chapter 2: Naturalistic Observation, Literature Review, Operational Definition
Document Summary
Chapter 2: research methods: form a question: all research in social psychology, as in other scientific fields starts with a question. Sometimes the research questions are designed to test established theories in psychology: search the literature: it is important to first determine what other people might have found out about the same, or similar, ideas. A literature review is not simply an introduction to an essay or report, it is an account of what other researchers have examined and found on the topic. Literature review: examining previous relevant studies on a given topic and critically appraising them: form a hypothesis: a hypothesis is a testable prediction about the conditions under which an event will occur. After the data is collected the next step is to analyze it: propose of revise a theory: the final step in the research process is proposing a theory.
