Group mind in crowd collectivistic perspective: le bon described three characteristics of crowds. Anonymity people are typically anonymous in a group. Suggestibility people in crowd act as if they are hypnotic state, if you suggest something they will do it, don"t think critically with their own mind and do what others tell them to do, usually violent behaviour. Contagion contagious, spreads like a disease: le bon described crowd as source of power as well. Can use source of power to preserve this state, rather than challenge them. When people are part of a crowd, simplify the message and then exaggerate message is more likely to spread this way. Don"t need to provide any evidence this way. Crowd has a tendency to simplify the message. Certain behaviours are performed better in presence of other people. We don"t accept responsibility, you do your share and let others perform their parts.
