Empiricism means information is collected via one of our senses (sight) Data: takes the form of thoughts, feelings or behaviors. Facts: statements about observations, or data (the way women feel/express themselves) Theory: a collection of facts or an abstract generalization that provides an explanation for the facts. Social role theory: any difference between men and women is due to the different roles society holds. Correlation study : you can observe the relationship between two variables, at a single point in time. The value of a correlation can be from 1 to + 1. A perfect one is traveling 60 mph and a weak one is due to the fact that there is a number of different explanations between 2 variables. Positive correlation is one when both variables increase and decrease at he same time. Negative correlation occurs when one variable increases as the other decreases.
