FRHD 2100 Chapter Notes - Chapter 3 & 12: Prostatitis, Orgasm, Cremaster Muscle
Document Summary
Shaft is covered by prepuce (sheath of skin from upper labia majora). Glans, hood, and shaft are visible from outside but the entire structure extends down the sides of the vagina. Highly sensitive, developed from the same tissue as a penis: vestibule area within labia minora, containing urethral and vaginal openings, urethral opening lies behind clitoral glands and in front of vaginal opening. Susceptible to infection from intercourse because of close proximity to sex organs: vaginal opening (introitus) covered by a fold of tissue (hymen) that usually remains partially intact until a woman engages in coitus. Some are born without hymens, some women"s hymens are torn during strenuous activity. A flexible hymen can withstand many coital experiences, so its presence is not always proof of virginity. Some euro-muslim women have surgery to repair hymen before marriage to provide the illusion of virginity.
