Propositions are the backbone of a theory and are defined by any statement that relates one concept to another. Research definitions: derived from a theory, social problem, or a hunch: hypothesis: a statement that can have a truth value (true or false, conceptual hypothesis: marital conflict is negatively related to academic performance.
