Human sexuality: cross cultural studied of human sexuality have become more common since 1980"s, studies show significant cultural variation in the way sexuality is viewed, practiced, and controlled, culture regulates sexual behaviour. Rules of sexual access: marriage: a relationship between people recognized by society that provides a continuing claim to sexual access, universal, conjugal bond, affinal kin. The incest taboo: prohibition of sexual relations between individuals, explanations, psychoanalytical, genetic, social (peace in the family, cooperation, no explanation yet convincing, legal to marry cousin in your family - genetic mutations wont occur. Where do you draw the line: in some cultures cousin marriage is almost mandatory - keeps family ties closer. Psychoanalytical: repress sexual feelings for opposite sex parents - freud. Social: avoid incest within families - mostly because destructive: have males competing for the females, boundaries of incest vary cross culturally, required incest: egyptians in past, hawaii, divine - human/goods.
