Institution of education refers to an enduring set of ideas about education and how it can be used to accomplish goals that are deemed important to society. Education is an extremely powerful tool for promoting ideas among impressionable young people. Children spend more time at school than they do with their parents. Education has a significant impact on the socialization of children and young adults. At school, behaviours are modified, skills for future employment are taught, social interaction and conflict are negotiated, and notions of social reality are defined. Structures of inequality such as classism, sexism, heterosexism, and racism are usually verbally discouraged even as they may be reproduced in actions taken by school boards, school officials, and teachers. Schools teach children to be productive and obedient citizens. With the rise of industrial capitalism, companies started to demand more from their labour force.
