Fasciculation: abnormal contraction (shortening) of a bundle of muscle fibers. Tremor: an involuntary trembling of a limb or body part. Tremors may involve a large group of muscles or a small bundle. Intention tremor: becomes more apparent when an individual attempts a voluntary movement, such as holding a cup of coffee. Resting tremor: more apparent when the client is at rest and it diminishes with activity. Bones will be assessed for normal form, joints are assessed for tenderness, swelling, thickening, crepitation (the sound of bone on bone), body posture is assed for normal standing and sitting positions. Inspect muscles for size (compare muscles on side of body) Inspect muscles for tremors (have them hold arms in front of body) Palpate muscles at rest to determine the tonicity.
