Both ends of the spectrum has its pros and cons. Locus of control: high external control: behaviour is determined by fate, luck, and powerful people. These people do not believe they have control over their future and therefore are less motivated: low external control: behaviour is determined by self-initiation, personal actions, and free will. People are responsible for their own future and therefore are more satisfied with their work and achieve more. Self monitoring: the extent to which people observe and regulate how they appear and behave in social settings and relationships, gravitate to jobs that require the use of their self-presentation skills. They tend to perform better and are more likely to emerge as leaders. Self-esteem: the degree to which a person has positive self evaluation, according to behaviour plasticity theory, people with low self-esteem are more pliable and susceptible to external and social influences.
