Document Summary

Antecedents: the stimuli, events, situations, circumstances that are present or were present when the behaviour occurred. Is when a behaviour is more likely to occur when a specific stimulus is present . When a behaviour is more likely to occur because of a specific antecedent stimulus or from a stimulus class, we say that the behaviour is under stimulus control. The antecedent stimulus that is present when a behaviour is being reinforced is called the discriminative stimulus. Sd does not make the behaviour happen rather it increases the likelihood that the behaviour will occur in the present situation. Stimulus discriminative training is the process of reinforcing a behaviour when a specific antecedent stimulus is present. There are 2 steps in this process: (1) (2) when sd is not present, the behaviour is not reinforced. The behaviour is reinforced when the sd is present.
