PSYCO258 Chapter 2: Psychology (chapter 2)
Document Summary
Signals are then sent from the motor area to muscles in juan"s arm and hand so he can turn off the alarm. However, there is more to this seemingly simple behaviour than just turning off an alarm in the morning. Juan"s brain must include processes involved in retrieving knowledge from memory and making decisions based on the knowledge. Therefore, this chapter introduces some of the basic physiological principles of cognitive neuroscience- the study of the physiological basis of cognition. To understand how the mind works, we need to do both the behavioural experiments and physiological experiments. Because the levels of analysis refers to the idea that a topic can be studied in a number of different ways, with each approach contributing its own dimension to our understanding. Example: to understand levels of analysis, consider the automobile from the different levels: Driving the car to test the performance.
