Massive entry of women into the workforce has led to more complex feminine expectations and more complex masculine levels of involvement in terms of sharing household work. Couples" expectations of marriage concerning love, sexuality, and companionship have increased. Mainly characterized by tension and unresolved conflict: some of this is overt and is seen through nagging and quarrelling. In public, they are on their best behaviour and can be quite polite. In private and in front of children, they do not conceal their differences. Spouses seem to argue for the sake of it. Abusive relationships can occur in this category. Most of these relationships were like this while dating, but got married because both fear their personalities will not allow them to have a more peaceful relationship. Covers maybe 10 20% of today"s marriages.
