Anxiety future-oriented emoion, characterized by percepions of uncontrollability and unpredictability over potenially aversive events and a rapid shit in atenion to the focus of potenially dangerous events or one"s own afecive response to these events. Fear react to current situaion, anxiety is more future orientated. Worry thoughts about possible negaive outcomes that are intrusive and diicult to control (component to anxiety) Girls exhibit more fears than boys clearer in older children: could be because of gender-role expectaions. Intervenion can be jusiied when it interferes with funcioning and causes suicient discomfort. Must produce marked distress/ interfere with normal rouine/ Youths will try and avoid the situaion or object they fear funcioning. Social phobia/ social anxiety disorder marked or persistent fear of acing in an embarrassing or humiliaing way in social or performance. Selecive muism those who do not talk in speciic social situaions, youths speak in other situaions though.
