Document Summary
To create a process to measure whatever phenomena you wish to test e. g emotions & behaviour. To understand you must make and test predictions; hypotheses. Theory is ideas that are able to explain an observation. Hypothesis is a tentative dea that is not proven but involves two variables. Variable can include conditions, events, characteristics or behaviour. To be testable a hypothesis must provide operational definitions for the relevant variable. Various methods; experiments, case studies, surveys, naturalistic observation, etc. Participants/subjects are the persons or animals being systematically observed. Use stats to analyze data and conclude the findings of the study. Journal is a periodical diary of the findings and material in the study. Science approach promotes clarity in communication and intolerance for error. X the independent variable is free to manipulate y, the dependant, observe the outcome. Given special treatment regards to the independent. Similar subjects as experimental but do not receive special treatment.
