Document Summary

Task #1: short writing exercise (1. 5%) Air pollution is a serious issue in today"s environment. A thick fog combined with smoke and pollutants in the atmosphere is known as smog. Smog can happen anywhere even peterborough. When coal or oil is burned, there are three things that happen to it. Firstly, a portion of the coal or oil burned is completely combusted, which causes the formation of carbon dioxide (co2). Along with these three outcomes, a variety of chemical reactions are taking place. Both coal and oil contain more than just carbon and oxygen molecules. Coal is primarily composed of carbon, but also contains hydrogen, sulphur, oxygen and nitrogen. A series of reactions begin happening to form a variety of chemicals that become the components of smog. These chemicals are responsible for giving smog its grey colour. (withgott et al. , 2009) In today"s urban environment, the population is extremely dependent on automobiles for transit.
