Youth mobility often seen as (in western countries) Bynner: transition to adulthood takes longer to complete, young living w/ parents, studying longer, more educated, etc, marriage and birth is also late. De nition of youth rapidly changing; adulthood stays same. Go home: parents often nancially support trips; children have little to worry about (ex. Participant observation: research method where the researcher follows closely or participates in the lifestyle of her research subjects. Ethnographic: in-depth study of everyday behaviours of a speci c group to better understand the world from their pov. Fordism: factory assembly line where each worker is given own section/task to work on continuously. Western idea of modernity includes social organization, economy, political institutions, market economy, etc. Globalization: changing local ways of living into a more modern style; connecting locals to the outside/bigger world. Liminality: ambiguous traditional stage through a rite of passage where the person is outside of their social comfort zone.
