Neighborhood, district/local, national/regional, global: system 1: private sector (profit-driven) Worst: using human and natural resources to achieve max returns. Operates through free marketplace then meet needs through production/invention of services/goods. Shareholder concerns only on legislation = company operating framework. Small/micro business -> small/med enterprises -> large businesses -> multinational corps. Max profit > consideration of others: system 2: public service (planned provision) Elected institutions manage the economy to provide public service. Community councils -> local authorities -> national & regional government -> Can be seen as bureaucratic, centralized and inefficient. Economic management to serve people: system 3: social purpose (self-help, mutual) Solo or collaborative action to meet and satisfy needs. Formally structured: voluntary sector & social economy. Caring for others & meeting social needs rather than max profit. 3-systems co-exists based on different core values.
