379 week 3 violence risk assessment: adults and youth. In this week, we will build on your foundation of risk assessment knowledge from the previous week and start applying these concepts to the specific tools you might use in the assessment of violence risk. This week is designed to highlight the connection between research and practice by presenting risk factors and then the tools. In particular, notice that the risk factors tend to overlap between the two. We will also be talking about risk assessment for adults versus adolescents. Although much of the material discussed for adults will be similar for adolescents, the adolescent reading and lectures really highlight the differences. Remember that you will be looking for whether tools are actuarial or spj and noticing how these different approaches work, use risk factors, etc. This week"s readings present research on the risk factors but also introduce some of the risk tools that will be reviewed in the lectures.
