Culture and social understanding: some language lack the word for think , parenting styles have different effects in different cultures. Play and social development: taking on roles in pretend play helps with social development. Child characteristics: some work suggests that children who were shy and socially fearful performed better on false belief tasks in preschool. Sensory loss: blindness and deafness: delay in false belief understanding in blind and deaf children have been reported, but not deaf children with deaf parents. Parent-child interaction: children were more advanced when parents framed discipline in terms of other"s feelings. Relationships: attachment style: secure attachment style is most positively correlated with social cognition, maybe because secure attachment is associated with easier temperament. Mind mindmindedness: mothers who think about their children as persons with minds will then interact with their children in this way rather than just caring for their physical needs, mindmindedness= the tendency to attribute mental states to children.
