Document Summary
Mostly it"s the personal events that affect the comfortable pattern of our lives. People often get sick after major life events. Even positive life changes can cause stress (ie. getting married) Sources of stress that occur continuously or repeatedly. Many of these are linked to social relationships: social groups, culture etc. Chronic stressors can also be linked to the environment: do you feel safe where you are, excessive noise has been proved to be a stressor, environmental psychology: the scientific study of environmental effects on behaviour and health. Events are most stressful when then a person feels like they cannot get control of the situation. Fight or flight response: an emotional and physiological reaction to an emergency that increases readiness for action: the hair raises on our bodies preparing us to fight or run. A three-stage physiological response that appears regardless of the stressor that is encountered.
