Ethnogerontology: studies the influence of race, ethnicity, national origin, & culture on individual & population aging. It refers to physical appearance or, the appearance of physical differences. A category devised by others that places people w/ similar biological traits into a group. Older aboriginal peoples are a significant link w/ aboriginal cultures. Mainly young" groups, w/ smaller proportions of older people than in he case of the total canadian population: large cities are more likely to have well-established ethnic communities w/ community institutions. However, jobs are hard to secure for old people: visible minorities are more likely to be widowed. They are twice as likely to have young adults in the home. Their household size is almost twice the size of that of the non-visible minority population: minimal theory development: elderly members of ethnic groups have been too small to warrant much attention until recently.
