Pop increasing too fast for development: natural change, in recent yrs cities have been expanding so much that even combine together = conurbation. North-east us, corridor of urbanisation from boston to washington dc. Asia = ledc w/ more than avg children/family so pop increase faster than medc. Urban land use: residential areas, farther away from cbd = wealthier b/c have car so can drive to cbd, close to cbd = lower-income, middle-income life cycle: 1) semi-detached house, in suburbs (childhood) in medc. 2) rented room, closer to cbd (pre-parenthood, eg. uni) 3) starter home (owned), farther from cbd than 1) b/c have car (child-rearing) 4) family home (owned), same distance as 3), need little bigger home (primary-age children)
