Gender-role identification: the behavior and characteristics associated with a particular gender. Adult responses to young children"s psychosexual behavior and development. Children may engage in masturbation: as a source of comfort when feeling tired, tense, anxious, stressed, bored, or isolated from others; when needing to go to the bathroom, to get attention; or because it simply feels pleasurable. Concern if: when it goes on for a large part of the day, when there is infection in the genital area, or when children are being exposed to adult sexual activity, pornography, or sexual abuse. Children are sexual beings and curious beings-therefore natural that they would want to explore the differences between them and their peers. Concern if: placing objects into body openings as part of their sex play .
