Most police recruits are mature individuals with a variety of life skills and have had a variety of life experiences that include travel, volunteer work, and/or full-time employment. Applicant must be prepared to have every aspect of their life examined. Minimum requirements for candidates applying for employment in policing. Includes canadian citizenship, physically fit and able to complete a rigorous physical abilities test, grade 12 graduation at least, integrity and honesty, and good judgment. Many applicants cannot pass the issue of integrity due to providing incomplete and/or inaccurate information to police recruiting officers. Requirements that increase the competitiveness of applicants seeking employment in. Most important attributes = work/life experience policing. Including a knowledge of a second language/culture, important skill sets, volunteers experience, post-secondary work. Including international travel and/or living abroad, work involving extensive contact with the public, and positive references from past employers.
