Release and reentry: federal offenders usually apply for a conditional release because their sentences are longer. Conditional release means leaving a correctional institution before warrant expert where an offender is subject to conditions that if are breached, can trigger revocation of the release and return to prison. Release options: temporary absences, escorted or unescorted for medical family, employment, and education purposes, eligibility, for temporary absences: maximum security inmates to eligible for unescorted. Offender has to return nightly to an institution or a halfway house unless authorized by the pbc: eligibility for day parole, people with sentences of 2-3 years may apply after serving six months of sentences. Sentences of 3 years or more may apply for day parole six months before full parole eligibility. Life sentences are eligible to apply three years before full parole eligibility date: full parole, allows offenders to serve remainder of sentence under supervision in the community.
