Info = carried to/from comp over phone line as sound, the same way a voice call is transmitted. Modem at either end of the phone call translates the sound of the phone call to/from computer data: adsl. Info is also transmitted over phone line but does not use a traditional. Info = encoded differently than in a modem connection. Lets adsl transmit data faster than a modem: cable modem. Data to/from comp = carried over tv cable: when a comp connects to a network in an office building/at sfu (home network set up), diff, faster connection methods are used due to the shorter distances involved, ethernet. Uses wires = generally used for desktop comps that don"t have to move around. Several times faster than adsl/cable modem: wi-fi (wireless fidelity/lan {local area network}) Diff versions with different data transmission rates. Often used for laptops, making it possible to move the machine/o worrying about network cables.
