The way we ask questions determines the answer; ex being if we give a multiple choice question you limit the possibilities. If we don"t ask why people have certain opinions we will guess and just are as likely to be wrong as we are right. What looks reasonable to us isn"t always equivalent to what"s reasonable to the subject. Qualitative or quantitative research depends on the information a researcher wants to find. Quantitative research was first developed by auguste comte for social sciences in 1798- Ex; understanding/studying widow"s grief after a spouses death enhances ones ability to empathize and fully understand a widow"s perspective.
