ā¢ Measure of Central Tendency: yield information about the center, or
middle part of a group of numbers
ā¢ Arithmetic mean: the average of a group of numbers ā computed by
summing all numbers and dividing by the number of numbers

ā¢ Median: the middle value in an ordered array of numbers
o Advantage ā extremely large or small numbers will not affect the
data
o Disadvantage ā not all the information from the numbers is used

o if there is a tie for most frequently occurring number, both are
listed ā then the data is said to be bimodal
o data sets with more than two modes are called multimodal

ā¢ Percentiles: measures of central tendency that divide a group of data
into 100 parts
o there are 99 percentiles because it takes 99 divides to make 100
parts
