BISC 101 Chapter Notes -Cardiac Muscle, Blood Plasma, Optical Microscope
Document Summary
Types of tissue being examined: epithelial squamous, cuboidal, columnar, connective adipose, hyaline cartilage, fibrous, and blood, muscle smooth, neural. Epithelial tissue squamous, cuboidal, columnar: examine the two slides of simple epithelial tissue (cuboidal and columnar), draw two cells of each tissue type each in the space provided. From each slide, label the following structures for each cell type: cell membrane, nucleus, and cytoplasm. Calculate actual size and drawing magnification for the length of one cell in each of your drawings: list the major characteristics and functions of each tissue type in table 1. Allows for easy movement of materials across the surface of the cells. Found primarily where there will be an exchange of materials across the surface of the lining or covering. May be active (pumping material in or out of lumen) or passive. Often specialized so they can do a variety of functions in the tissues they line.
