The world is just now starting to understand africa"s responsibility in the story of human. This books explain archaeological evidence of the past humans first appearance in africa. Humankind first evolved in africa in between 5 & 2. 5 million years ago. Ancient egyptians written records begin 5000 years ago. Everywhere else particularly south of the equator records are only 1-2 centuries old. Prehistory is the time before history was written. The term prehistory isn"t appropriate for africa because written things exist but isn"t informative on life then or african history is written by outsiders. The language and nature of past populations is understood by modern languages. Recent times of north africa are excluded because they used to be connected to the. Africa represents 1/5 of the habitable globe & holds over 500 million people. Africa has had fluctuating temperatures and patterns of rainfall and deserts have expanded. Some parts deserts have disappeared and forest have expanded.
