Depends on the promise of power which he embodies . Promised power is exterior to the man - his presence suggests what he is capable of doing to/for you--power he exercises on others. Presence expresses her own attitude to herself, what can or cannot be done to her. There is nothing she can do which does not contribute to her presence . Born into the keeping of men, social presence is within a limited space. Continually watches herself, continually accompanied with her own image of herself. Her own sense of being in herself is supplanted by a sense of being appreciated as herself by another . Men"s treatment of her depends on how she appears to them. Woman"s actions are an indication of how she wants to be treated, i. e. woman throws a glass - how she treats her own emotion of anger, therefore how she would wish it to be treated by others.
