Small competing businesses were replaced by few large and powerful corporations. The creation of large global economic units also means that the entire economy can be put at risk when a small number of major businesses find themselves in a crisis. A lack of economic diversity can collapse whole sectors or regions. Scientific management, frederick taylor, its aim was increased managerial control over the worker with the goal of maximizing worker output. Fordism, henry ford, period of time when capitalist development marked by intensive production, maximum use of machinery, and complex divisions of labour. Post-fordism stage involves new social and technological forms of work organization, with production linked to information-based technologies. Attempt to eliminate waste by moving to a just in time production, minimal staffing levels and greater worker productivity. The workplace is restricted around a more differentiated workforce.
