Freud had many developing theories, some were abandoned after things happened in his life, like his father passing away or having to support his family, so worked as an actual physician. Then he faced depression and anxiety, he used himself as an example, which he thought would reveal unconscious thoughts and desire. He discrouved that a hypnosis didn"t work, so he found out free association does. Free association: thinking without stopping yourself for any reasons, thinking freely. In doing so, freud believes that you will uncover things that never knew. Scientific and therapy, and it became the primary evidence for personality theory.
