Document Summary
Social psychology is an area of psychology that seeks to understand, explain, and predict how people"s thoughts, feelings, and behaviours change by the presence of others. Social cognition is the way people perceive themselves and other in their social world. Attitudes are relatively stable evaluations of things and people around us. The abc model of attitudes shows that there are 3 components to attitude: The affective component- how we feel towards an object. The behavioural component- how we behave towards an object. The cognitive component- what we believe about an object. Parents play a major role in what the attitude of their children will be like. Attitude is taught to a person just like any other thing that can be learnt. Outside forces are a main key when changing an attitude. Just thinking about something makes that thing more significant and important to a person.
