Ex: people you meet for lunch; each person can easily sit alone. Ex: protestors, protest i groups because as a group they hold more power than individually: we are comforted by the mere presence of others ad therefore motivated to be near them in stressful situations. Ex: when in danger people congregate near each other even though doing so serves no protective purpose.
