Running for office: running in the house of commons: -a minimum of 100 eligible electors must sign the nomination papers an official agent/auditor must be appointed a deposit of. Party must run at least 1 candidate in each general election party must have a leader, 3 officers, an auditor and a chief agent. Official election campaign at national level must last at least 37 days. Spending limits increase for each additional day after 37. No limits on how much $ a party can spend before election campaign. Have become highly professionalized with expert managers, advertising agencies and pollsters who design/run the campaigns. Focus mainly on leader, touring and posing for the media. Candidates work hard to meet as many voters as possible at the local level.
