Currently, health care ethics is more important than it has been previously. Ethics is no longer a matter of what can be done with the technology available, but rather what should be down, as the effectiveness of health care increases. This is shown in cases when a patient is irreversibly comatose but it is morally questionable to keep them alive. Philosophy seeks to clarify some of these dilemmas. Philosophers strive for pure logic, and tend to defend or even attempt to disprove commonly accepted morals. This is the concept that it is unethical to perform a study or complete a health treatment without the consent of the patient or one able to give consent on behalf of the patient. Ethics is a more systematic study of factors that affect how we think about morality in life. Contrary to morals, ethics is often only used infrequently by the layman.
