Frequency distributions are a method of imposing order on numeric data. A frequency distribution is a systematic arrangement of numeric values from lowest to highest, together with a count (or percentage) of the number of times each value was obtained. Some researchers display frequency data graphically in a frequency polygon. Scores are on the horizontal line, with the lowest value on the left, and frequency counts or percentages are on the vertical line. Distributions can be described by their shapes. Symmetric distribution occurs if, when folded over, the two halves of a frequency polygon would be superimposed.
