Factors to consider when selecting a framework to use: most chn agencies have a standard planning framework that is used across departments. It guides the choice of theory that will help define a program"s elements: may be influenced by a set of underlying values or principles such as participatory development or social justice. At this stage, activities are first clustered thematically into components for the program under review: ex: a suicide prevention program for youth might include the components of risk assessment, crisis intervention, and peer support. And activities are the specific intervention strategies to be used for each component: activities in the crisis intervention component may include support groups, establishing better communication between youth in crisis and health services organizations.
