Ontario human rights code (ohrc: provincial law, falls within the authority of section 92(13) property and civil rights. It is a super legislation: all other laws must agree with ohrc. Objective: equal rights and opportunities without discrimination in the following areas: If you don"t get the job because: you are a pregnant woman = discriminatory [section 10(2), of your religion = discriminatory, of your facebook site = not discriminatory. Unfair & discriminatory discounts: you are a student at ryerson living on a tight budget. You"re in the checkout line at a store, and you notice the elderly gentleman in front of you get 15% seniors discount. Human rights tribunal of ontario: decides if someone"s human rights have been violated. Human rights legal support centre: helps people file applications with the tribunal, services include, advice, support and legal representation. Human rights commission: focuses on roots of discrimination, public education, research, etc.
